Bringing Residents, Families, and Staff Together Through Thai Buddhist Traditions
At Homerly Senior Living, we believe that a fulfilling senior lifestyle extends beyond quality care and comfortable living. It also includes meaningful experiences that nurture emotional well-being, spiritual connection, and a sense of belonging. One of our most cherished annual traditions is the Annual Merit-Making Ceremony, a special event that brings together residents, staff, caregivers, and the local community in a shared act of generosity and gratitude.
This year, Homerly proudly hosted its Annual Merit-Making Ceremony with the participation of seven Buddhist monks, creating a peaceful and uplifting atmosphere throughout our senior living community.

A Morning of Merit, Mindfulness, and Blessings
The ceremony began at 9:00 AM with the arrival of the monks and the traditional almsgiving ceremony (Tak Bat). Residents, staff members, and guests prepared offerings including dry food, snacks, and daily necessities, presenting them respectfully to the monks as an expression of kindness and faith.
The event was especially meaningful for our international residents, many of whom experienced this important aspect of Thai culture for the first time. With support from caregivers and staff, everyone had the opportunity to participate and learn about the values of compassion, generosity, and mindfulness that are deeply rooted in Thai Buddhist traditions.
Following the almsgiving, the monks conducted a sacred chanting ceremony, offering blessings for the Homerly community, including residents, employees, families, and all those connected to our home. The ceremony also honored and dedicated merit to residents who had passed away, allowing everyone to reflect with gratitude and remembrance.

Creating Meaningful Experiences for Seniors
At Homerly Senior Living, activities are designed not only for enjoyment but also to enrich the lives of our residents. Events such as the Annual Merit-Making Ceremony help foster:
- Spiritual well-being and peace of mind
- Social connection and community engagement
- Cultural appreciation and learning
- Meaningful opportunities for reflection and gratitude
- Emotional support through shared experiences
For many residents, participating in traditional ceremonies provides comfort, familiarity, and a sense of continuity, while international residents gain valuable insight into Thailand’s rich cultural heritage.

Offering Midday Meals and Receiving Dhamma Teachings
As part of the ceremony, residents and staff joined together in offering a midday meal and Sangkathan supplies to the monks. The gathering continued with a Dhamma talk, during which the monks shared teachings on kindness, mindfulness, and living with purpose.
The event concluded with a communal luncheon, giving staff and residents the opportunity to enjoy time together and strengthen the warm, family-like atmosphere that defines life at Homerly.

A Tradition That Reflects the Heart of Homerly
The Annual Merit-Making Ceremony reflects Homerly’s commitment to holistic senior living—supporting not only physical health but also emotional, social, and spiritual wellness. Through meaningful traditions and shared moments of connection, we continue to create an environment where residents can thrive, feel valued, and enjoy a true sense of home.
Every act of giving, no matter how small, carries the power of goodness. We are grateful to all residents, staff, families, and community members who joined us in making this year’s ceremony a memorable and meaningful occasion.
